The Strictest New National Standard Takes Effect: The "Dangers" and "Opportunities" for the Electric Vehicle Industry

Publisher:SivitechRelease time:2025.12.10

According to the latest data from the China Bicycle Association, the number of electric bicycles in use in China has exceeded 380 million, meaning that approximately one in every four people owns one. Such a vast user base indicates that the quality and safety of electric vehicles are no longer just a matter of product standards but are directly linked to the daily travel safety and the safety of life and property for hundreds of millions of families.

Since December 1, 2025, the "Technical Specifications for Safety of Electric Bicycles," known as the "strictest ever," has been fully implemented, and the sale of vehicles meeting the old standards has been prohibited. The arrival of the new national standard not only establishes a solid safety line of defense for public daily travel but also points the way for the comprehensive upgrade of the industry's quality management system.

Strengthening the Foundation of Quality Safety to Protect Public Safety from the Source

The new national standard raises quality thresholds across multiple dimensions, including technology, traceability, and supervision, aiming to enhance safety safeguards from the source. Among these, the digital traceability mechanism of "one vehicle, one battery, one charger, one code" creates a unique "digital ID" for each electric vehicle, effectively curbing battery tampering, illegal speed modifications, and other violations. The integration of BeiDou positioning and dynamic monitoring functions shifts safety protection from "post-incident handling" to "pre-incident warning," helping users avoid risks in advance and reduce accident losses. Additionally, the new national standard establishes strict standards for fire safety, range performance, and other aspects, balancing safety improvements with practicality and convenience for daily use.

According to data from Qichacha, there are over 1.05 million companies related to electric bicycles in China. The technical upgrade requirements of the new national standard serve as clear guidance for companies to improve their quality management systems and represent a competitive advantage for those prioritizing quality and safety.

Leading the New Safety Standard to Win Public Trust Through Quality

The quality of electric vehicles directly impacts public safety of life and property and has become a core factor influencing consumer decision-making. Companies that can integrate the safety requirements of the new national standard into their management systems and translate these standards into trustworthy user experiences will gain a competitive edge in the reshaping of the industry landscape.

By establishing a quality management system covering the entire product lifecycle, achieving full-process traceability from research and development to after-sales service, and enhancing the effectiveness of vehicles' "digital IDs"; analyzing real-time statistical data to accurately identify the root causes of quality issues and provide early warnings; and strengthening supply chain management to enable efficient and in-depth collaboration, companies can not only provide users with safe and reliable products but also build brand reputation, driving the entire industry chain toward higher safety and quality standards.

Safety is no trivial matter, and responsibility outweighs all else. In the era led by the new national standard, adhering to strict quality standards, maintaining product quality, and safeguarding public safety are not only legal obligations for companies but also the cornerstone of their long-term development.
